Samurai (click for link to Pathfinder entry)
“A Bushi in the Imperial Army never hesitates. We have the skill and the blood to prevail in the name of the Empire. A Bushi acts with honour, knows what must be done, and does it without question. There are many warriors in the land, but none as well-trained and honourable as the Bushi of past and present.”
-Toturi Katami, War Veteran, leader of the Order of the Flame and Imperial Blade.
Starting Wealth : 4d6 × 15 Koi. In addition, each character begins play with an outfit worth 20 Koi or less, and a free one-handed weapon worth 100 K or less.
Mounts : Emus are valid mounts for Medium Samurai, and have the same stats as the Camels they replace. Horses/ponies are another valid choice.
Nobility : Samurai are part of the nobility. At such, they get the Nobility feat in addition to their starting feat. Levels in the Samurai class can only be taken by characters who have the Nobility feat. More information on Nobility here.
Class Skills: Hojojutsu (Dex) is added to the Samurai's list of Class Skills.
Lore : The Way of the Bushi is one of the most distinctive cultural features of Heibesu. Samurai are elite warriors, part of the nobility, who live by this code of virtue and honour. Trained from an early age to war and sworn to the service of their House, the Samurai holds much power and esteem, and often (but not always) has an estate of her own, or granted by her House to rule over. Samurai take on their training with zeal, horseback or on foot, and wield the Katana, the sacred Imperial weapon. Some Samurai decide to go rogue (ronin), at which point they are relegated to Casteless, but which allows them to pursue their own goals without the ties to their House. Samurai can also be branded as Ronin if they belong to an Order that is aligned with the hostile House Kaeda, or the Kokora Order of Vengeance. Going rogue also strips a Samurai of Noble status.
Orders : The Samurai can devote themselves to one Order, though most typically it will be one of their own House/Clan. It is rare for a Samurai to devote themselves to a different Order than those of their House. Here is a list of valid Orders, including fifteen of the Sixteen Golden Orders. Earthward Kitsune and Heibesu Ton'keena can join these orders (except the Tengu one, which is Tengu only).
