- Ton'keena are the dominant race in Heibesu and indeed, the known world. They are catfolk but also possess the human subtype.
- Kitsune are vulpine shapeshifter forced out of their home. They now settle across the world. They are common in Heibesu.
- Dwarves (known as Kageshuju) are a very old civilization hailing from the Wild Mainland that witnessed the Elves and Unseelie wars. They are cold and live in stone fortresses. In Heibesu, there is only one Dwarf fortress : the great Fort City of Eidenfurt, nested north of Ninomiya.
- Halflings (known as Shiroishuju) are a carefree, village-dwelling, frugal people that often live on the same territory as the Dwarves, though on the surface. In the Empire they can be found as wandering travelers or living in the mountains near Eidenfurt.
- Tengu are a crow-like race of cunning swordsmen native to Heibesu. However, they are often treated as second-class citizens of the Empire and are said to bring bad luck . At such they are kept at bay, and live in slums in the Imperial cities or in their own, isolated communities across the Empire.
- Drow are all that remain of the once proud Elven race. Honour they have not, and Drow are a chaotic race of backstabbers and cruel overlords. While they compete with the Dwarves on the Wild Mainland for underground control, more and more Drows are found in the Empire, usually as merchants of exotic goods and sometimes of more sinister items and services. Drows are not outlawed in the Empire, but they are very uncommon and indeed, reviled by most.
